Silverbacks Head Back Home With One Point in Two Road Games

At least they got something out of the two game road trip, at least they accomplished something. Even though it was only one point that the Silverbacks could "accomplish" on their two game road trip (coming with a 1-1 tie to the Hershey Wildcats), it at least was something to build on. And it was also (as pitiful as it may sound) one more point then the Silverbacks had gotten over three road games thus far in the season. Now the Silverbacks return home, where they have completely obliterated their competition this year. Want proof? Fine. In 4 home games this season, The Silverbacks have only lost one, they have also out scored their opponents 12-2 at home and have not allowed a goal at home since April 15th, opening day. Thats 15 points in four games at home. The Silverbacks have also frustrated a team to the point where they have finished the game a man up twice in four games. Two words can describe the way the Silverbacks have played at home, complete domination.

This Saturday, the Atlanta Silverbacks conclude their home-and-home series against the Hershey Wildcats in their favorite place to play, their home field, Dekalb Memorial Stadium. But it won't be as easy beating Hershey this week as it was the last three times the Silverbacks played at home. It should be a hard fought game to the finish as most home-and-home games are in the second game. The two teams have gotten a good look at each other in the first game and will find it hard to break the opposing teams defense which has seen the offense before and knows what to expect. It usually comes down to who makes the mistakes and the game is very low scoring. A good example of this came in the second game of a home-and-home series earlier this season between Atlanta and the Charleston Battery. The game was in Charleston so I didn't have the privilege of being able to see it, however, i do know that it was a hard fought game and was very defensive. Charleston won in OT 1-0.

Expect another good defensive, hard fought soccer game this Saturday that will come down simply to who wants it more. Lets hope its Atlanta...
