FLASH DASH WOLVES

A road weary Connecticut Wolves team turned out to be no match for the back to back Pacific Division Champions, as the men from the Nutmeg State fell to the first place San Diego Flash, 3-0 late Saturday night in an A-League match on the West Coast.

After an evenly played first half, San Diego got on board in stoppage time. Defender Jaime Munro knocked in a 4-yard rebound, after Wolves GK-David Winner had made two consecutive saves. Guillermo Jara got the Flash on the board early in the second half, as he put away a crossing pass by Carlos Farias in the 47th minute. San Diego added an insurance tally in the 64th minute when Adam Frye (on loan to the Flash from MLS's L.A. Galaxy) received a long ball from Leighton OBrien just outside the penalty area and unleashed a 22-yard blast into the upper part of the net.

Goalkeeper Tom Tate recorded his second consecutive shutout for the San Diego Flash, who improve to 4-2 on the season, while Connecticut drops to 0-4-1 and fifth place in the Northeast Division. These two teams will meet once again later this season on Saturday, July 15th in New Britain, CT.

The Wolves conclude their 6-game season-opening road trip on Sunday, May 14th, when they head up the California Freeway to the Santa Ana Bowl to take on the Orange County Waves. Connecticut's home opener is next Friday, May 19th, 7:30 against the defending US Open Cup Champion Rochester Raging Rhinos.
