Last week the Eagles beat the visiting Battery 3-2 in overtime. This week it was in Charleston with noticable differences. The game was the opening home game for the Battery at beautiful Blackbaud Stadium. The game started with both teams having good chances to score.
The Battery probably had the better chances but goalie Dwayne Adams of the Eagles made several spectacular saves very much like his saves in last years D3 playoffs. The half ended with no score.
In the 53rd minute John Ball scored off an assist by Brian Piesner. Then at the 63rd minute Paul Conway scored with the assist from John Wilson. The final tally came from John Ball, his second, assisted by Jukka Rantala.
Immediately after the game there was a great fireworks display that I missed because Dan Barnes had dragged me down to the Three Lions Club. That is why this report will be late and abbreviated.
