The Eagles were ready for Monday Night Futball and the Impact was not ready. After three straight competitive losses the Eagles needed to make some changes. Two starters were change from there usual starting line-up. Jose Correa and Joey Johnson were added to the line-up and it paid off.
The Eagles came out very fast with quick passing and pressure on the Impact defense. In the 13th minute Dustin Swinehart created havoc on the Impact defenders got the ball and lifted it over the goalies head for a 1-0 Eagle lead. The second goal came at the 28th minute mark on a Rob Mouw goal and an assist by Ryan Leib. There was no other scoring in the half but Dwayne Adams made a spectacular finger tip save on a Sunny Nwachukwu break away.
The second half was basically a passion type half with the Eagles and Impact trading chances but no major threats by the Impact. Draft pick Caleb Norkus came in late and showed signs that he soon should be in the starting line-up. He had a couple great, creative passes and missed a couple good chances that will find the net by mid-season. The last 10 minutes the Impact showed frustration and committed numerous fouls.
