Cincinnati jumped out quickly against the Blast from a goal at the 4-minute mark by J.T. Roberts. Through nice interplay by Costa and McDermott the Blast tied up the score in the 6th minute mark with McDermott sending it into the net. The Hawks had some nice midfield play in the first half. Indiana kept sending the long ball to Costa in hopes of their leading scorer having a chance to create something. The Hawks did a good job of shutting Costa down however.
The 2nd half started with the Blast showing a bit more patience in getting the ball up the pitch. With Peter Baah substituted in to play midfield he helped control the ball and worked the ball up the pitch. The Hawks were left trying to play the long ball with no success. In the 70th minute Tenoff scored the game winner by shooting the ball up into the corner. The last 5 minutes of the half made Indiana play defense. The Hawks kept knocking on the door but could not get the ball in. The game ended with Indiana winning 2-1
