The Blast come into tonight's game with an 8-10-0 record in league play and are in fifth place. The Kickers are coming off a two game road trip to the Northwest but came away with no points as they lost two games in a row for the first time this year. Kevin Jeffrey will not be playing tonight due to injury.
The Kickers started out playing well controlling the ball and connecting on a lot of their passes. Their good passes pay off in the 13th minute when Kwaku takes the ball around the midfield strip goes down field. He is confronted with two defenders but is able to make the pass to Josh Henderson who fakes out the goalie and puts it in the net for an early 1-0 lead. Ten minutes later Mike Burke goes down the right side with the ball to the end line and sends the ball back into the penalty box to where Tony Williams is running into. The ball is about waist level as he jumps up and puts the ball into the left-hand corner. The Kickers take a 2-0 lead and the Blast seem unable to stay with the speed of that Richmond is displaying.
The second half started out with the Kickers continuing to control the flow of the game until the 63rd minute when Indiana's Rodrigo Costa got free behind the Kicker defense and raced towards the goal. Richmond goalie Mike McGinty came out of goal for a great sliding kick save.
In the 66th Minute the Kickers scored their third goal of the night when substitute Peter Byaruhanga worked his way past two defenders and well within the 18-yard box. The Indiana goalie David Winner came out of goal and closed off the angle. Byaruhanga continues his run across the goal mouth and then cuts the ball back to the middle as the Blast's goalie is out of his goal. Byaruhanga pass finds Josh Henderson who spins away from goal and lays a quick pass to Marco Ferruzzi about 12-yards out. Ferruzzi puts the in goal for a 3-0 lead.
The Blast get on the board in the 90th + minute when Indiana's Andy McDermott is taken down inside the penalty box. McDermott took the PK and put it in the lower right corner.
