Bethel Park, Pa.(7-26) The Pittsburgh Riverhounds continued their streak, winning their fifth straight by a 1-0 score over Syracuse, before 1,817 at Bethel Park H.S. Stadium.
The only goal came in the 10th minute when the 'hounds leading scorer Thiago Martins, scored off of an assist from Gary DePalma, sending his shot into the twine, just inside the left post from a few yards out, past Salty Dogs netminder Paul Nagy.
The Riverhounds are now unbeaten in eight of their last nine games and are within 6 points of Montreal and Rochester who are tied for the top spot of the Northeast, for the final playoff spot in the Division.
Martins is now tied with Rochester's Doug Miller for the lead in the league scoring race.
The crowd of 1,817 was, unofficially, the second largest of the season, for the hounds. Goalkeeper Randy Dedini earned his fifth shutout of the season.
The 'hounds visit Syracuse again on Friday, before hosting the Impact on Sunday(6:05).
