Cincinnati Kings v. Richmond Kickers

On a clear evening in front of 1,264 fans the Cincinnati Kings dropped a 1-0 decision to the league leading Richmond Kickers. The loss is the Kings second in a row and continues a 314 minutes scoreless drought for the club. Jon Pickup commented on the club’s recent drop in form, “First couple of matches we had adrenaline, that has worn off now and we have to respond.”

The lone goal of the evening came from Michael Burke when he bounced a free kick past Jordan James. The Kings failed to respond as the remainder the first half saw little opportunities. Coach Jon Pickup described the half as “bloody awful” and even loyal supporters would find the statement hard to argue with.

The second saw two scares for the Kings as Derek Smith had his ankle stepped on and Nawaf Jaman fell hard in a mid air collision. Both players did get up, no word yet on their condition. The second half also saw the Kings come to life as the finally mounted an offensive hit the post and forcing the Kickers to make a save. Richmond stood firm and the Kings scoring woes continue.

Kings are back on the road against Pittsburgh trying to get back to early season form and scoring goals.
