The Kings need to play 90 minutes. It seems to be a reoccurring theme to give up and early goal. On a beautiful afternoon in Cincinnati, the Kings had to fight from an early deficit.
A foul in the box allowed Trey Alexander to convert a penalty kick and give momentum to the kings to go up 3-1, following goals by Derek Smith and Mike McGinlay. The Kings had flashes of good play but relaxed towards the end of the game. If the Kings are going to be a Championship Club they cannot let up. When they relaxed at the beginning and end of the game the Kings conceded two goals.
The score was closer than the play. However, this is a learning curve for a team that has been together for only two weeks. When the loose ends are tied up, I don’t see them losing the rest of the regular season. If things are left unturned then I know you aren’t talking about the Kings FC.
Players have changed positions for the club, to be the best team and it sends a message that they are here to win, and win often. The Forwards are scoring, the midfield is creating and the defense is working to absorb attacks. The defense has changed all season due to yellow card suspensions and injuries. However, I will not accept any mentions of the Kings allowing that to continue. They will play to win.
