Andy Flory scored two goals, and Morgan Zeba scored one goal and assisted on two to lead the Minnesota Thunder to a 6-0 victory over the Twin Cities Inferno in an exhibition scrimmage Saturday afternoon at the Stardome in Richfield. Stoian Mladenov had a goal and an assist.
Former Thunder star Amos Magee, the team's all-time leading scorer, is expected to re-sign with the Thunder this week. Magee was cut by the Tampa Bay Mutiny of Major League Soccer last week and went unclaimed on the waiver wire.
Magee and Thunder general manager Jim Froslid had initial negotiations Friday, and only a few minor details are unresolved. Magee is expected to join the Thunder next week in time to prepare for their season open April 27 at Connecticut.
From Michael Rand of the Star Tribune;
Froslid also said the Thunder has interest in signing Paul Schneider if he is cut by the Mutiny. Schneider, who scored 15 goals for the Thunder last year, has been impressive in exhibition matches with Tampa Bay and might stick with the MLS team.
