(Charlotte, North Carolina) The Charlotte A-League Eagles and Charlotte W-League Lady Eagles will both be in action this weekend, playing a home and home series against their I-85 rivals, the Carolina Dynamo and Piedmont Spark respectively. The A-League Eagles will square off against the Dynamo on Friday night at home at Memorial Stadium at 8:00 PM in a Lamar Hunt Us Open Cup Match, while the Lady Eagles will host the Spark at 5:30 PM at Memorial Stadium in a W-League W-2 Eastern Conference match. Saturday the Eagles and Lady Eagles will head to Greensboro for a return match with Carolina and Piedmont.
EAGLES A-LEAGUE FRIDAY NIGHT PREVIEW: Charlotte will take a week off from A-League play for the two games this weekend against the D3 Carolina Dynamo in US Open Cup play. The Eagles are 1-1 for five points in Open Cup play in Group # 6 in the six-game initial round. The Dynamo is also 1-1 but a point below the Eagles.

The Eagles are coming off a 2-0 victory over the Montreal Impact this past Monday night at Memorial Stadium in an A-League regular season contest. Charlotte (2-3 A-League and 3-3 overall) will look to get their overall record over the .500 mark this weekend.

LADY EAGLES PREVIEW: The Lady Eagles (1-0-0) will look for their second straight win Friday night following a season-opening 4-0 triumph last Friday over the Tampa Bay Extreme at Memorial Stadium. Forward Christy Timbers, the W-2 “Player of the Week” scored a pair of goals while Deanna Kreidel and Tiffany Tisdale notched single tallies. Esther Thompson played almost the entire game in goal to get the shutout and win.
PIEDMONT SPARK SCOUTING REPORT: The Spark will enter the game Friday night against the Lady Eagles at 0-1, having dropped their home opener last Saturday to Jacksonville 3-2 in Greensboro. The Spark feature several players from the Wake Forest women’s soccer team.
WHAT’S NEXT: Following this weekend’s action, the Eagles and Lady Eagles will be off until the first of June.
