RICHMOND, VA - (Friday, May 25, 2001) - Tonight the Kickers defeated the Atlanta Silverbacks by a score of 2-0 with the help of forward Kevin Jeffrey, who tallied both goals. The Trinidadian forward struck once in each half to put the Kickers in second place in the Central Conference with 14 points (3-1-1 record).

Minute by Minute Highlights

First Half
2nd Minute: Atlanta immediately starts with pressure and midfielder Pablo Peirano picks up a loose ball around 30 yards out. He takes a few dribbles and fires a low hard shot towards the left corner of the net. An outstretched Mike McGinty makes a great diving save to push the ball just wide of the post.

3rd Minute: The Uruguayan Pablo Peirano creates another chance for the Silverbacks, this time he unloads from 25 yards out and his shot just sails high over the crossbar.

14th Minute: The Kickers generate some offense of their own, Kwaku plays a great little through ball to Mike Burke in the box and Burke plays a square ball to Kevin Jeffrey who is wide open. Kevin stops the ball, takes a touch to the side, and unloads a shot that is blocked from 12 yards out.

25th Minute GOAL: Free Kick on the left flank for the Kickers. Marco Ferruzzi floats a long ball into the box. Josh Henderson out jumps the Atlanta defense and heads a ball back across the box for a cutting Kevin Jeffrey who chest traps and volleys the ball through the legs of goalkeeper Billy Andracki from 8 yards out.

33rd Minute: Josh Henderson wins the ball at midfield and looks up to see Kevin Jeffrey one on one with an Atlanta defender. Henderson plays a ball into space for KJ, who beats the defender on the side of the box and takes a tough angle shot that just misses the upper right corner of the net. Goalkeeper Billy Andracki cuts down his angle well.

Second Half
52nd Minute GOAL: On the right hand side midfielder Tony Williams sends a diagonal ball over the Atlanta defense for Rob Ukrop. Ukrop takes it out of the air with his head and lays a pass to a charging Kevin Jeffrey who is wide open at the top of the box. Jeffrey lets the ball fall in front of him as he confidently strikes the ball into the lower left hand corner of the net from 17 yards out. Jeffrey's second of the game.

65th Minute: Atlanta begins to generate some offense and defender Seth Marks traps the ball outside the Richmond penalty area and lines up a low hard shot that skids wide past the goal.

82nd Minute: Long diagonal ball into the box to Seth Marks at the far post. Marks wins the header and re-directs it towards the goal. McGinty scoops up the shot with ease.
