Battery-Greenville among eight Open Cup matchups

When the Charleston Battery visits the Greenville Lions for a U.S. Open Cup soccer match at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Sirrine Stadium, it will be one of eight second-round matches over the next two days.

The winner between the A-League Battery, and Greenville, of the United Soccer Leagues' D3 Pro League, advances to face the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer in the third round on July 17. In all, eight MLS teams enter the single-elimination competition in the third round.

Other matches in the second round include teams from the United Soccer Leagues' amateur Premier Development League.
