INDIANAPOLIS, IN-The Blast have added four new players to their roster and all will be eligible to play in tonight's game at 7:35 as the Blast play host to the El Paso Patriots in the first ever "FREEBIE FRIDAY". Former Indiana University midfielder Lazo Alavanja has officially joined the Blast. Since leaving IU, Alavanja has spent time with the Dallas Burn, the Miami Fusion, and most recently with DC United. At IU Alavanja scored 35 goals and added 39 assists in 89 games.
Also joining the Blast is former Rochester Rhino Mali Walton. The defender has spent the past six seasons with the Rhinos where he was a part of three A-league Championships and one US Open Cup Championship.
The Blast have also signed Semir Mesanovic. Mesanovic, originally from Doboj, Bosnia, moved to Canada and gained citizenship at a young age. He was a participant in the Under-20 National Team Program. Mesanovic spent the '99 and '00 seasons with the London City Football Club where he scored 22 goals and tallied 25 assists, earning him two All-star selections and Rookie of the Year honors in '99.
Goalkeeper Paul Rogers has been signed as cover for the injured Josh Lynk. Rogers is a native of Brighton, England and played his college soccer at the University of Indianapolis. The 6'4"-210 pound goalkeeper was signed by Head Coach McDonald in the event Lynk was unable to play this evening. Lynk is recovering from a foot injury and back-up Mark Spears is sitting out on suspension from a red card he received in last week's match versus Cincinnati.
All games are played at Kuntz Memorial Stadium located at 1502 W. 16th Street. Kuntz Stadium is an Indy Parks facility.
