MARINERS TRAVEL TO CHARLESTON FRIDAY,
RETURN HOME SUNDAY TO HOST TORONTO AT 6 P.M.
Virginia Beach, Virginia - The Virginia Beach Mariners will hit the road Friday, April 29, to face the Charleston Battery at Blackbaud Stadium at 7:30 p.m. The team returns home Sunday to face the Toronto Lynx Sunday, May 1, at the Sportsplex at 6 p.m.
Tickets for Sunday's game are $10 for ages 8 and up; children 7 and under are free. Gates open at 4:30 p.m.

Virginia Beach Mariners (1-0-2, 3 points)
The Mariners are coming off a 1-0 win over the Richmond Kickers on April 24 and currently stand in fourth place in the USL First Division. · Mariner defender Russell Hutchison and midfielder Darren Caskey were both named to the USL First Division Team of the Week for the period ending April 24. Hutchison scored the winning goal over Richmond and Caskey scored a goal and assist in last weekend's home and away series with the Kickers.
· Former Mariner Dante Washington was waived by the Columbus Crew this week to make room for Trinidad & Tobago international forward Cornell Glen from Dallas. Washington joined the Crew at the end of the 2004 regular season for the third time in his career. In nine MLS seasons Washington accumulated 52 goals and 29 assists in 161 games played, including 111 as a starter. He also scored five goals and added one assist in postseason play. While with the Mariners in 2003, Washington ranked third in the League in points with 37, ranked second in goals scored with 18 in 26 games and led the League in shots with 82. In 2004, he won the A-League scoring championship with 40 points (17 goals, 6 assists) and tied for first in goals scored. In both seasons as a Mariner, he was named First Team All A-League.
