City Islanders Open Tryouts This Weekend
Training camp on tap for March 20

(Harrisburg, PA, March 8, 2006) – The Harrisburg City Islanders will hold open tryouts this Saturday, March 11, and Sunday, March 12, as the start of training camp grows closer.

Saturday’s tryouts will be held at Hersheypark Stadium from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. The tryouts on Sunday will take place from 9:00 – 11:30 a.m. at the “In The Net” Sports Complex in Palmyra (798 Airport Road). A handful of veterans are likely to be on hand both days.

The City Islanders will open preseason training camp on Monday, March 20, at “In The Net,” and play a seven-game preseason schedule (April 1 – April 21) before kicking off their 2006 regular season on Saturday, April 29, at Skyline Sports Complex against the Cincinnati Kings.

Season, group, and single game tickets are on sale now. Ticket prices have remained the same for the third straight season and begin at just $5 for youth general admission. In addition, the club has added a Bring Your Own Chair (“BYOC”) option for 2006. Tickets are available by calling 717-441-GOAL or online at www.cityislanders.com.

The City Islanders enjoyed a superb second season in 2005, posting a 12-3-5 record underscored by a 15-game unbeaten streak. The campaign included a second straight playoff appearance, two major postseason awards (Rookie of the Year, Chad Severs; Coach of the Year, Bill Becher), and four All-League selections (Shane Crawford and Sumed Ibrahim, First Team; Severs and David Schofield, Second Team). The City Islanders also received the Second Division’s “Organization of the Year” award.
