Charlotte Eagles Professional Soccer announced today the re-signings of their entire 2005 starting back line which includes Aaron Faro, Ben Meek, Ryan Dinunzio, Clay Roberts, and Ross Spencer.
Aaron Faro, a graduate of Messiah College, is returning for his 4th year with Charlotte. The New York native was a member of Messiah College’s National Championship teams in 2000 and 2002. Faro was a 3-time all conference pick including 2001 Conference Player of the Year.
Ben Meek quickly became a hero for Charlotte in 2005 when he scored a last second goal that sent the USL-2 National Championship game into overtime. Meek then sealed the victory in the shootout with an upper corner shot that gave the Eagles their second championship in 5 years. The graduate of Westmont College will be playing his 3rd year with the Eagles.
Ryan Dinunzio will be playing his second year with the Eagles after playing 3 years with the USL First Division’s Rochester Rhinos. A native of Kenmore, NY, Dinunzio is also currently an assistant coach with UNC Charlotte’s men’s soccer program.
Clay Roberts from Florida Southern College will be playing his 3rd season with Charlotte after spending the recent winter months playing for the Major Indoor Soccer League’s Philadelphia Kixx.
Ross Spencer will be playing his 2nd season with the Eagles. The former Texas All-State High School Running Back, and graduate of Southern Methodist University will continue to bring youth and skill to an already experienced back line in 2006.
Charlotte will celebrate its National Championship on Opening Night, April 21st at Waddell Stadium. The special ceremony will start at 7pm followed by kickoff against Cincinnati at 7:30. Tickets can be purchased at www.CharlotteEagles.com or by calling 704-841-8644 ext.32.
