Cincinnati Kings at Harrisburg City Islanders

(Harrisburg, PA, April 27, 2006) – The Harrisburg City Islanders kick off their 2006 regular season this Saturday, April 29, against the Cincinnati Kings. Game time at Skyline Sports Complex will be 7:05 p.m. A limited number of fans will receive a free T-Shirt, courtesy of Stroehmann’s.

The club is very close to selling out of Skyline’s 2,000 bleacher seats, but “Bring Your Own Chair” (BYOC) and Standing Room Only tickets will be sold through the start of the match.

At halftime of the match, five greats from the Harrisburg Heat, the city’s Major Indoor Soccer League franchise from 1991-2003, will be inducted into the Heat Hall of Fame: current City Islanders Head Coach Bill Becher, midfielder David Bascome, forward Gino DiFlorio, goalkeeper Doug Petras, and head coach Jim Pollihan.

CITY ISLES FILL OUT ROSTER WITH PAIR OF SIGNINGS

The City Islanders also announced on Thursday the signings of two players, both pending US Soccer and United Soccer Leagues approval: forward Francesco Caruso and defender Jeff Pearce.

A local product out of Lancaster Catholic High School, Caruso burst onto the scene in training camp with two goals in his first appearance, on April 12 against Saint Francis, and two goals and two assists in his next game, against Village United FC on April 17. He graduated from San Diego State and has played professionally in New Zealand.

Pearce caught the eye of the City Islanders’ coaching staff in the April 17 match. The 20-year-old defender has played for both Village United and Waterhouse of the Wray & Nephew National Premier League in Jamaica.
