Harrisburg City Islanders at Richmond Kickers

Harrisburg City Islanders at Richmond Kickers
Sunday, May 14, 2006
University of Richmond Stadium, 4:00 p.m.

(Harrisburg, PA, May 11, 2006) – Fresh off their memorable exhibition with D.C. United in front of 5,133 fans on Tuesday night, the Harrisburg City Islanders return to regular season play this Sunday, May 14, with a road match against the Richmond Kickers. Game time at University of Richmond Stadium will be 4:00 p.m.

On Sunday, May 14, Harrisburg will face the Richmond Kickers for the first time. The Kickers are in their first year in the USL Second Division after nine solid seasons (1997-2005) in the First Division. Richmond lost the First Division Championship Game to the Seattle Sounders in penalty kicks last year.

The City Islanders then return home for their next three games: on Saturday, May 20, against the Western Mass Pioneers; Saturday, May 27, versus Pittsburgh; and Saturday, June 3, versus the Long Island Rough Riders. All three games kick off at 7:05 p.m. at Skyline Sports Complex.

O’NEILL NAMED TO USL-2 TEAM OF THE WEEK:

City Islanders midfielder/defender Ryan O’Neill was included on the USL Second Division Team of the Week announced earlier this week.

O’Neill, in his second season with the club, posted a fine two-way effort in Harrisburg’s 2-2 draw in Pittsburgh on Friday, May 5. He began the game on the left side of the midfield but shifted to the back to help spur the City Islanders’ second-half rally.

The native of Lima, PA, is the first City Islander to earn Team of the Week honors this season. He was named to the Team twice last year.
