Miami, FL- Miami FC, fresh off their inaugural season in which they became the first USL First Division Club to make the playoffs in their first year of existence, is already looking forward to their sophomore year and will tour Australia and the Far East in an effort to make even bigger strides next year. The South Floridian Club has established a professional relationship with Australian A-League Club, Adelaide United FC. The relationship between MIAMI FC and Adelaide United FC has only been strengthened by the latter’s recent signing of Brazilian legend and MIAMI FC top goal-scorer, Romario. Romario will play a minimum of four games with the Australian side as of this November and his signing has facilitated MIAMI FC’s decision to hold a number of friendly games “Down Under”.
Miami FC leaves for Australia on October 13th and upon arriving “Down Under” will play the first of their scheduled friendly matches against Adelaide United FC on Tuesday October 17 at Hindmarsh Stadium and will then suit-up against the SA State Team on Thursday October 19. MIAMI FC is also planning to visit the Sultanate of Brunei to play another two friendly matches as part of their tour of the Far East (place and time to be confirmed). The South Floridian team will count on their entire 2006 USL First Division roster during their tour, including First Division Top Scorer, Romario, and League MVP Candidate, Zinho.
Once MIAMI FC’s tour is completed, Romario will fly back to Brazil and then return to Australia in mid-November to honor his Special Guest Contract signed yesterday in Traffic’s Sao Paulo based headquarters. Romario will play a total of four games wearing Adelaide United FC’s colors starting on November 25th against the Central Coast Mariners in Gosford, followed by games on December 1st versus the Melbourne Victory, on December 10th versus the New Zealand Knights and again on December 15th versus the Newcastle Jets, all at Hindmarsh Stadium in Adelaide.
