October 08, 2006, Miami, FL – In response to requests for additional time from teachers and students, Miami FC and Miami-Dade County Public Schools have agreed to extend the deadline of the Miami FC Nickname and Mascot Contest until October 13.
“We are extremely pleased with the creativity and quality of the entries we have received. The beginning of the school year has just been so hectic for teachers and students that they are asking for more time. This will give more students the possibility to participate. And it will give eager students who have already participated an opportunity to develop and submit new ideas. We look forward to a great challenge when selecting the top three entries for the open voting phase”, commented Claudia Castro, Marketing Manager of Miami FC.
Students of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, from Kindergarten to 12th Grade, are allowed to submit as many entries as they desire for the nickname and/or mascot. Entries can be sent through mail (Miami FC, 501 Brickell Key Dr., Suite 407, Miami, FL 33131, Attention: Claudia Castro) or by uploading them to the Miami FC official website at www.miamifc.com.
Once the entries are received, a Judges Panel will select the top three entries of the Mascot and the Nickname respectively. These top three nickname and mascot entries will then be posted at www.miamifc.com for open voting around the world.
Mascot designs may be created with color pencils, pencils, pens, crayons, markers, paints, and/or original photo collage or computer generated images. Both nickname proposals and mascot designs must be submitted on an 8 ˝ by 11” piece of paper along with an index card that includes the student’s info. (Student’s full name, school name, Grade, Date of birth ,Teacher’s name and Parents and/or legal guardian’s name).
Students of the top three nickname and mascot entries selected will receive local, national and international recognition as well as exciting prizes, such international airfares, laptop computers, iPods, Miami FC merchandise and more.
