After a scoreless first half despite chances by both sides, the Pittsburgh Riverhounds took a 1-0 lead on a set piece play in the 53rd minute, and that lead held up the rest of the way. Midfielder Justin Evans sent a corner kick right to the center of the Hogges’ goal box and a streaking defender Ed Hayden headed the ball sharply into the back of the Bermuda net. Hayden, a second-year member of the Pittsburgh side, played another spectacular game in the defensive third and again added to the offensive attack getting the only goal of the contest.

The game was played in cloudy conditions at Chartiers Valley Stadium in Pittsburgh’s South Hills.

The Hounds climb out of the bottom of the standings to improve to 3-3-2 (11-points) in the United Soccer Leagues Second Division. Bermuda falls to 3-6-1 (10-points).

The Riverhounds host the Richmond Kickers in another USL-2 match Sunday night at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are will be on sale at www.riverhounds.com, by phone at 412-539-1191, and at the gate.
