Riverhounds Play Five Straight At Home
Hounds Host Western Mass Friday and Sunday – Then Three More In August

(Pittsburgh) -- The road weary Pittsburgh Riverhounds finally return home to consecutively play their final five regular season matches at Chartiers Valley Stadium. The Hounds will meet the Western Mass Pioneers on both Friday night at 7:05 and Sunday afternoon at 3:05.

Those are two matches the Riverhounds sorely need to win as the Pioneers are four points ahead of Pittsburgh in the United Soccer Leagues Second Division standings. With victories worth three points and draws worth one, the Hounds would need two wins this weekend to leapfrog Western Mass and climb into, at least, seventh place. Only the top five teams in USL-2 make the playoffs. And, depending on what Charlotte and Crystal Palace Baltimore do on Friday and Saturday, two wins could possibly move Pittsburgh up two spots. Still, the Hounds need to take care of their own business.

In their only other meeting in 2009, the Riverhounds and Pioneers ended in a scoreless draw in New England. Pittsburgh is 4-8-3 (15-points) while Western Mass is 5-7-4 (19-points).

The Richmond Kickers and Harrisburg City Islanders are still deadlocked at the top of the USL-2 standings with 29-points each. Wilmington, Real Maryland, and Crystal Palace Baltimore occupy spots three through five. The Hounds face two of those three sides in August, facing Wilmington on August 1st, Charlotte on August 8th, and CP Baltimore on August 15th.
